About Me
My life with horses
“I don’t come from a horsey family, and no one really knows where my love for horses came from, but I’m told I was hooked at around 4 years of age, and still am”
While horses have always been a source of joy, I’ve spent many years witnessing and experiencing relationships with horses that became full of frustration, despair, and deep disappointment.
I know how a horse can make you feel on top of the world one moment and at the bottom of it the next. You need to adopt a good sense of humour pretty quickly!
These wise 4-legged creatures have helped me through some of the most challenging stages of my life; some reacted with gentleness and acceptance, while others literally gave me a ‘kick up the backside.’
Realisation and Recognition: A Lifelong Gift Finally Understood
My fascination with horses took me down many paths in my personal and working life.
I learnt about many ways horses can help humans, such as Equine Facilitated Coaching, experiential learning with horses and horse therapy. But I wanted to know more about how to improve the relationship between horse and human in partnership.
It was a quest to understand a new way of being with horses, and healing showed me this new way—one that felt magical and deeply peaceful. I witnessed how subtle shifts through healing could spark profound breakthroughs, changing a horse’s demeanour and deepening the connection between horse and human.
Even more incredible was discovering the ability to receive direct communication from them, through pictures, sensations and most powerfully actual feelings in my body, known as Somatic empathy.
But I learnt to trust this intuition and accept it was important, relevant information.
The Magic of Healing: Transforming Both Horse and Human
Witnessing the profound effect that healing has, not just on the horse but also on their human, is something quite unique and difficult to put into words.
However, this effect and insight provide a shift and change in both horse and human, allowing us to work together and create positive steps to help them both move forward with confidence, trust, and peace.
I love to ride and cherish the times with my best horsey buddy, Prince, and what truly inspires and intrigues me is the connection you can have, their presence and the way they interact and try to communicate with us all the time!! This builds confidence and trust in and out of the saddle.
Today, I combine my lifelong passion for horses with my practices in healing and coaching, with a few painful life lessons thrown in for good measure. My quest and curiosity to understand this bond drives me to want to improve horse-human partnerships, making them balanced and harmonious.
